The Lightburn Park Railway, the home of the society is a dual gauge (3.5″ and 5″) raised track fabricated from steel, which gives us a running length of approximately 610 ft. Curves are a minimum of 40ft. radius. We are also fortunate to have the use of the former tennis pavilion adjacent to our line for meetings and storage.
Phoenix Precision Paints Ltd are the best and most accurate railway colours available. Our materials can be used on the smallest of scale models right up to full size steam locos. We are pleased to have provided the paint for Leander as well as many other well known locos.
We are well known in the UK both at the model engineering shows and at our premises in Mytholmroyd (near halifax), West Yorkshire in England. The Society aims are to bring together persons from all walks of life who share a common interest in miniature engineering in all its forms. The excellent facilities at Hady with its tracks for locomotives and there are also areas for traction engines to show their paces. As the land is undulating, both the ground level and raised tracks make challenging driving for all locomotives. Bedford model engineering society was formed in 1948 to promote interest in model engineering of all kinds, be it on rail road or water.
We are always open to all new members young and old.
